Commisioning a Pet Portrait

My fine art portraits not only capture your special companion's likeness, but also the character that makes each pet so unique. Each portrait is painted on high quality archival grade canvas using acrylic paint and comes ready to display as is, or ready to frame. Not only would this make a wonderful gift for yourself, but also a cherished present to give to one of your pet-loving friends.

I create each custom painting using the photographs and details about your pet that you supply me. While I prefer to have all images emailed to me, I can also work from original photographs that will be returned to you upon the completion of your painting. Let me know if you have a favorite photograph you'd like me to work from, or I can select one for you myself. Please remember that the success of the final portrait largely relies upon the quality of the photographs that you supply me. For tips on taking photographs, please see my “Guide to Successful Photographs”. I will also need some information regarding your pets breed, age, and personality as well as any preferences you may have for a color scheme or background. Please let me know if you have any specific ideas in mind. I am happy to work as closely or independently of you as you would like.

Once we have agreed on the size and content of your portrait I will supply you with the final price of your painting including any shipping and handling charges (Please view my pricing guide below for a general list of sizes and prices.) and I will then be able to give you an approximate time frame of when you will be able to view the completed piece. Time frames for each order may vary greatly depending on content of portrait as well as the quality of the photographs supplied to me. Orders are completed in the order that they are received. While I try to adhere as strictly as possible to the time estimate you are given, please remember that this is a very personal and creative process and time frames are approximate. Let me know when ordering if you are purchasing a portrait as a gift. I will need to know the date which you expect to present your painting to it’s recipient prior to beginning the process. For last minute gifts, I can create a gift certificate that can be purchased on line and then mailed directly to you or that special someone. The recipient can then contact me directly to begin the creation of their one-of-a-kind portrait.

I begin all commissions  based on the honor system and therefore do not require a deposit to begin your pet portrait. After your painting is completed, I will email you photographs of your piece. At that time you can either approve your painting or make suggestions as to anything you would like me to adjust. Only after you are 100% satisfied will I require payment in full. As soon as payment is received, and funds have cleared, I will ship you your painting using either UPS or FedEx. All pieces will be insured for complete purchase price.

If you’d like to discuss placing an order, please visit my contact page and send me an email. After receiving your letter of interest I will then supply you with my personal email address or ground mail address in order for you to send any pictures you would like me to review. I will not open any email’s with attachments from senders that I do not know. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but do hope that you understand.

I look forward to working with you to create a cherished keepsake of all of your four legged friends! All inquiries are welcome!

I will notify you, prior to accepting your order, with any changes that may apply. I also retain all copyright and reproduction rights to each painting I create. While I may use a photograph of your pet portrait for my portfolio and possibly for advertising material,  I will not create or sell any copies or reproductions of your pet portrait.
